The Chinese electronics giant Xiaomi is all set to make the Redmi as an independent brand, and the company will launch its first smartphone under the Redmi brand today. Well, ahead of the launch event, the company has announced a price cut on its selfie-oriented smartphone which launched in last year and that is the Redmi Y2.
With the price cut the device will now retail a reduced price of ₹8,999 for the 3 GB variant and the 4 GB variant will now cost ₹10,999. Well, that means the smartphone brand has done a price cut of up to ₹3,000. That said, the new price cut is applicable on the online as well as offline stores. The Redmi Y2 sports 5.99 inch HD+ 2.5D curved glass display with 1440 X 720 pixels resolution along with 18:9 aspect ratio. The device is powered by 2.0 GHz octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor and paired with the 3/4 GB RAM along with Adreno 506 GPU for the graphical task. In terms of storage, 3 GB RAM variant has 32 GB of internal storage and 4 GB RAM variant has 64 GB of internal storage. If the storage is not enough for you, then the device allows you to expand the storage upto 256 GB via MicroSD card.
Coming to the photography department, the device has dual camera setup at the back and it is placed at the top left corner in the vertical orientation. The camera setup is in the combination of 12 megapixel + 5 megapixel with f/2.2 aperture, PDAF, AI Portrait Mode, and LED flash. The device also has 16 megapixel front facing camera with AI Portrait Mode AI Smart Beauty, Auto HDR, and selfie flash. The device also features IR blaster to use the smartphone as a remote controller of your electronic appliances. Talking about the security, the device has fingerprint and Face Unlock features to give the maximum security to the users.
The device supports dual SIM, 4G LTE, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, 3.5 mm headphone jack, and USB Type-C. The device runs on Android Oreo 8.1 which is based on MIUI 9.5, and the device is backed on 3,080 mAh battery with 5V/2A charging.
